graphic card upgrade

Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

i would get the GPU and PSU and buy a monitor later on..unless you could afford both...the r9 270x will be really short at 1080p, it won't max out MANY games that are out ATM @60fps 1080p...

let alone in 4-5 years, you would be running games a low and 30fps...

Hi guys,

I am in the process of upgrading my pc. For now I am changing my graphic card and my psu, and later in teh year i will upgrade the cpu and the mobo. My choice is sapphire r9 280x dual-x oc + seasonic S12II 520w. But due to the reducing of amd cards prices, i've had a new thought, is it more suitable to purchase a sapphire r9 270x dual-x + psu + 22" dvi screen? My actual screen is samsung synsmaster s100, 18.5" with a single vga. What do you think guys? My main obgectif is futureproofing, I can't make upgrades for another 4-5 years. I can save up for the screen later if the r9 280x is worth it.

Thanks a lot.

Well, if you can upgrade for a good 4-5 years, I recommend that you get something like a 290(x). But that's a bit more than you're willing to spend.

The new display. A more powerful graphics card probably wouldn't make nearly as much of a difference as a good display does.

Sapphire is top of the line for AMD graphics cards, that's pretty much all they do and they do it really well...noise and heat will not be a concern with this card, i highly recommand this model it's a very good choice...if you could get a vapor-X

for like 5 or 10 more euros it might be worth it, if not...this one will be awesome ;)

HEY make sure it's a r9 280X ...the X is very important...if it's a r9 280 it's one step down...
