I installed a 1tb Samsung 990 pro into my dell g15 5511, as my secondary ssd, and it is not being read, any tips?

I’ll link an image of motherboard below. (If the computer looks weird, I got it off Facebook marketplace for 100 bucks, and I’ve had it for 2 years, works really good)

i have windows 11, 64 Bit

You might have to format the drive by going into disc format, type that into the start menu. If you see a drive with no partitions (in black) or name right click and format it.

I only see the drive I have previously used, no other drives are visible

If you have another computer you might want to plug it in there and see if it shows up. Could be a bad port or dead on arrival drive. Other than that I'm not sure.

I may update my drivers, but If that doesn’t work, then you are probably right

According to Dell specs, this computer have a mainboard with HM570 chipset, which supports PCIe 3.0. Samsung 990 Pro AFAIK is PCIe 4.0.

I'd ask to Samsung if the SSD supports also PCIe 3.0.

Not English-speaking person, sorry, I'll make mistakes. If you're kind, maybe you'll be able to understand.

If you're really kind, you'll nicely point that out so I will learn more about write in good English.  🙂
