NAS DAS Combo

You can use a plain NAS without network access if you are competent enough with your network configuration to directly connect the NAS to your personal machine. Another option would be to simply use a large portable USB HDD as a "backup" of your NAS that is always attached and kept up to date, then you simply unplug and bring it with you when you travel. (not sure exactly how much storage we need to move here.)
