Hey,

I am having an input lag issue on my PC. It's a dual purpose work/play build, and in summary the keyboard and mouse *feel* laggy. For about six months now.

What I mean is that the input isn't registered right away and it seems to keep 'inputting' for the tiniest amount of time after it should stop. This is especially noticeable in games where it feels like I am consistently overshooting (i.e., crosshairs usually going a tiny bit past someones head, or walking a tiny bit far and falling off a ledge).

I *don't* notice this on my MacBook Pro when using the same monitor, keyboard, and mouse (admittedly I'm not gaming). I jumped on my daughters PC and played some Valorant, and also didn't notice the issue at all (she has an AMD 5600X with AORUS B550 motherboard and Radeon 6600XT)

The build is:

- AMD Ryzen 5800X w/Noctua D15

- Gigabyte B550 VISION D-P (F15 BIOS)

- 2 x F4-3200C14D-16GFX

- ASUS ROG Strix 4080 OC

- AORUS Gen4 7000s SSD

- Keychron Q3 Pro w/knob (wired)

- Logitech G70

- AORUS FI27Q-P + DP

- ASUS ROG Loki 1000W Platinum PSU

- Windows 11 Pro w/secure boot + bitlocker (AMD TPM) + latest AMD drivers + latest nVIDIA drivers + Logitech G-Hub + one game while I test --you'll be appalled to know it's Valorant 😉

- Mouse acceleration disabled (I use a utility called LinearMouse to do this on my Mac)

- VSYNC is definitely off everywhere, and the monitor is reporting FPS is maxed out (165Hz).

What I have tried:

1. Pulling the build apart and reseating everything after cleaning it with isopropyl (I haven't seen any temperature issues at any time).

2. A different cable, including connecting directly to a USB-C port (there are two) and also using the supplied USB-C to USB-A adapter, and a different (gaming) keyboard).

3. A different mouse (wired gaming mouse).

4. Different USB ports, including the 'keyboard and mouse' ports indicated on the motherboard.

5. A different monitor (including trying HDMI instead of DP, and a different DP cable).

6. Formatting the drive and reinstalling the latest Windows 11 Pro.

7. Not installing anything except windows drivers (no Logitech G-hub) and only one game at a time (I tried Valorant, Cyberpunk 2077, and Control).

8. Resetting and reflashing the BIOS using the Q-Flash button (so like a hard flash).

9. Resetting and refreshing the BIOS and not changing any BIOS settings (I only turn on XMP, PBO, and set fan curves at any rate).

10. A few different BIOS versions including beta versions.

11. Disabling secure boot, resetting the TPM, not enabling bitlocker.

12. Turning off game mode, repairing files with SFC, optimising the drive, doing a file cleanup, I mean I'm getting into the weeds here).

13. Different combinations of the above, reinstalling Windows in between.

What I haven't tried:

1. Replacing the cpu, motherboard, gpu, ssd, or power supply.

2. Windows 11 Home (surely not?)

3. Windows 10

4. Probably lots of other things you'll tell me about!

I've been building computers for 20+ years, so I *hope* I've tested the basics, but I'm very prepared to have overlooked something! I'm honestly wondering if there is an issue with the USB controller on the motherboard. Does anyone have insight for how to test that?

TIA!

There's a BIOS update available:

And there's a vBios too

The BIOS versions 16b and 16d are beta BIOS, but I did try 16d without any change. I also did try reflashing the V1 VBIOS (the card already had it but I thought it wouldn't hurt...)

Thanks heaps!
