Hi all-

I was looking to upgrade the memory in my computer to a new set, and I totally forgot how close this CPU cooler is to the ram.  This is the be quiet! Dark Rock 4 CPU Cooler and it sits right on top of the memory.  What I was wondering was is it possible to switch the CPU cooling fan to the other side of the cooling fin tower?  Will this greatly affect thermals?IMG_2885.thumb.jpg.9abd923bba7a4cd62a898250cc745daf.jpgIMG_2886.thumb.jpg.13b4189a215187955ac20ed7debe95d6.jpg

Just slide the fan and it's clips up a little bit so it's not pushing on the RAM.

if you're going to have the fan on the other side just blowing air to the back fan just to get out of the case then yes

I realized I should have specified, this is still the old ram.  The new ram is even taller.

Wouldn't the air still be pulled through the radiator?  There are also 3 intake fans in the front which are not pictured.

Yes, the fan is more optimized for static pressure (pulling air through things, like a fin stack) vs airflow. It will be fine, especially since you have intake fans dumping fresh air nearby.

Also you can get clips for 120mm fan for that cooler and put a 120 in push with the 140 in pull, if you want. I've got the opposite (120 pull, 140 push) on that cooler on my test bench at the moment.

The memory I am upgrading to is the Corsair CMW16GX4M2Z3600C14.  I noticed the sticks are very tall.  Do you think the memory would clear a 120mm fan?

Let me see if I got this right. Are you upgrading from 4x8GB DDR4 3200 CL16 to 4x8GB DDR4 3600  CL14?

That's no upgrade on an Intel 10th/11th gen platform, not noticeable in anything, and certainly not worth the money. Or are you doing it for the RGB?

I already had the memory from another project, so I was planning on putting it in my system for the speed, RGB, and better timings/CL.  I decided against it ultimately though because my system already works fine so its ridiculous to move the fan risk performance, and that memory says its AMD optimized not intel (in theory it should work anyway though).  I'm just adding in an RGB strip for extra RGB.
