Budget (including currency): ~500 GBP

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft, Fortnite, whatever the kids play these days.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Full thing will be from scratch no existing parts, i wouldn't have thought no more than 1080 res.

Hi all, a colleague asked me for some advise on a PC for their child. They are not very computer literate and may need some hand holding during the buying process etc. I am thinking a prebuilt with on board graphics and then looking for a used GPU would be a reasonable (and budget friendly) option. They are of the mindset that so long as what they get does what they want, the above games, and maybe some art would be a good start. My own machine is nothing amazing but I'm sure it could run most of what is needed (R5 4500, 32gb, GTX 960(maybe not)). Am I way off the mark? or could something be had for less than 500 GBP that would suit? I'm asssuming a 1070 or 1660 would be needed, maybe more?

Apologies for the vague information but I don't play anything you'd consider modern, so a little out of my depth.

Cheers

its very hard to find anything decent at 500 bucks.  This system here  for 600 bucks is a very good 1080p machine and will do 1080p gaming very well, even in more demanding titles so the kids can start playing 'cough, better games'' later if they want 🙂
