I'm running into an issue on my new computer which happens to be just outside the RMA date.

I have a z790 pro rs wifi board. I have a 5gb port on my router that's plugged into the 2.5gb on the motherboard. It seems to no longer work...maybe? I have old records showing it working at some point.

I've tried the 5gb port from the router on a laptop and it gets a signal. I've also tried another cable back to the desktop and its weird, if the 5gb is used it tries to connect for 18 seconds than just fails back to 1gb than restarts the duration timer, and if I leave the 5gb connection in it says Ethernet Not Connected but knows its a 1000/1000 connection.  If I use a 1gb port it connects, cant identify the network than claims no internet.

also currently I am unable to reach web pages without Wi-Fi.

I've never ran into this and its having me scratch my head.

Id greatly appreciate the help. I did get insurance through all-state for it but I'm hoping if it comes to it I can just get a replacement from asrock directly

I do have my cpu mounted with a thermalright contact frame. Might it just need to be remounted?

your IO on the rear of the board is not connected to the CPU Directly, so reinstalling the frame won't help.

Does your desktop Ethernet work if you plug into anything else?

I've tried it on other ports on the router, if its in a standard 1gb port it says "unidentified network, no internet" if its plugged into the 5gb port it says "ethernet, not connected"

I don't have any cross talk cables to try

plug it back into the 1gb port and do some troubleshooting there.  that sounds fixable.
