I installed new nvidia drivers onto my pc and now when I turn it on, everything spins up but nothing posts. There is also a solid red light on my z170 Asus motherboard.

Was it a driver or a firmware update? A bad driver update would at least get you to a BSOD message first.

It was a driver update, when I switch on my pc usually it goes to bios, but now, nothing even though everything spins up like usual.

Shut it down, remove the power cord, clear CMOS and plug it back in. A driver update cannot brick your BIOS. Where did you download the the driver from and for what card? Which light is red, there should be an indicator. Do you have onboard graphics in your CPU?

I cannot see a CMOS battery or the spot it's meant to go in, also the red light says BOOT_DEVICE_LED. It has integrated graphics but when I plug hdmi into the motherboard nothing posts there either

What are you booting off? Can you unplug it, you should be able to get into BIOS without a drive present.
