Hello everyone! I'm creating a topic here because I need some really good help. I've been planning to upgrade my GPU for a while, and my mind was focused on either a 3060 or a 3060ti, having watched the reviews on the channel I was pretty convinced. But lately I've been reading a lot of articles regarding the fact that nowdays 8GBs of VRAM are not actually that much anymore, so now I don't really know which card I should go for.

I sold my old PC to a friend of mine, and I need to get my 1060 out of the system and put it in the other one before giving it to him, so I need a new GPU asap. My budget can go really up to 400ish euros, and my current rig I have a:

  • Ryzen 5600X
  • ASUS ROG-STRIX B550-A GAMING
  • 16 GB 3200
  • 750w ASUS ROG STRIX 80 GOLD PSU

Since I don't have much knowledge of the current gen GPUs, I'm asking you guys help, either from team green of red.
Thanks in advance!

RX 6700/XT 6750XT are prime value right now. If you're really ballsy, the Intel Arc A770 16GB are of similar price/performance. Its personally what I'd buy if I was in the market because they're the underdog.

MSI Mech Radeon RX 6750 XT Video Card RX 6750 XT MECH 2X 12G V1 - Newegg.com

6750XT for the price of a 6700XT.

Acer Predator BiFrost Arc A770 Video Card Predator BiFrost Intel Arc A770 OC DP.BKCWW.P02 - Newegg.com

Sometimes I see this card for $300 on a better sale, but $340 is good too.

Yeah on amazon here in Italy the 6750xt is REALLY at a good price, I've looked up some benchmarks and it's really interesting. How come no Nvidia gpus?

The value just isn't there.  They keep cutting bandwidth and vram and leaving the price the same or a tier higher than it should be, at least with the 40xx series cards especially at the "300ish" price range.  30xx cards seem to be really spendy new and sometimes used as well.

Ah I get what you're saying. I was considering going for a 4060 to have a new card, but AFAIK it really is a 3060 and that cut me off instantly. And that is also why I'm so confused and don't know what to go for. Every video I find myself watching just resets my mind on what to buy

Nvidia GPUs are either still at MSRP or above it, from 2 years ago pricing. RX 6000 series has had quite a bump since release in performance through driver optimizations and has had their MSRP chopped over time. The difference in ray tracing performance is minimal and DLSS vs FSR between RX 6000 and RTX 3000 is negligible, so the major 'advantage' Nvidia would otherwise have isn't a strong argument against RX 6000.

Keep in mind the release MSRP for the 6700 XT was $480 USD and 6750 XT at $550, comparable to an RTX 3070. So just look at the difference in price/performance between those cards now and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Yes, I gave it a look by watching some benchmarks and I gotta say that even the 6700XT does very, VERY well even at 1440p. Considering that I'm planning to keep my 1080p monitor, I should be in a pretty good spot. So I expect the 6750XT to be even better.

Truth is, my choice initially was one-sided towards Nvidia, simply because I always looked down at AMD cards at the time I built my first PC, and never bothered to look them up NOW to see how are performing with so many years of advancements. It's a pretty promising choice, considering the price that I'm paying for the amount of performance and VRAM that I'll get

There's still compromises, but they're minimal in 2023 especially with RX 6000 series. For gaming in that mid range like 1080p and 1440p however, RX 6000 series is plenty from the RX 6700 XT and up.

Regarding RX 6700 XT vs 6750 XT, as long as its $40 or less more, then its worth it (in my opinion). The slight binning and higher bandwidth memory mostly help at higher resolutions, but the overall performance increase isn't worth it past that for 1080p/1440p. I ended up getting the RX 6750 XT over the 6700 XT simply because of that price gap and the card might end up driving 4K at some point.

Exactly, the price difference is so low that I'll go for the 6750XT for sure. Never thought I'd go for team red, but damn that card is really a beast, at least for my resolution and settings

EDIT: newegg does not ship in Italy does it?
