Ram compatibility

right now i have 2x8 gb ram sticks running in mu pc but i miss the 32 gb i used to have if i buy 2 new 8gb stick at the same speed (eg 3200mh) and the same at DDR4 should my pc boot up correctly

you mean run 4x8? It should work but its not guaranteed. What're your specs?

a amd 7 7500g

2x8gb 2300mh ram

3060 12gb 

the rest is unbranded stuff from a Lenovo prebuilt the ram and mother board are unbranded just made by Lenovo

 

but yes i was asking if 4x8 gb stick would work but they would be made by different brands

you CAN mix ram but it's not guaranteed to work

Lenovo only supports JEDEC. If you bought a 3200C16 XMP kit it's not gonna work. What exact brand and model RAM did you buy?

i haven't bought any yet i was just waiting but your gonna need to explain that a little more 

 

OH im so sorry i have to clarify its a full-sized desktop not a laptop

It might work it might not. Your chances are better if its the same kit you have now, but even that might not work. Best would be to sell the kit you have and buy a new 32gb kit (16x2). DDR4 has never been cheaper so its a perfect time to buy.

Usually Lenovo desktops come with JEDEC 3200C22 RAM because it don't support XMP. You have to check the brand and model/specs of the current RAM. When you checked that and you know the specs you buy RAM with the same specs. Not only the speed is important. The CAS latency and JEDEC profiles of the RAM are important too.
