PC not installing windows 11 or linux

Go to solution Solved by ComputerGuy204,

No clue what done it but its not fully fixed but it a tiny bit better. I am going to close this, thank you people who replied to this help request for giving me helpful pointers.

Hello people of LTT forums, ever since I have updated from my I7-7600K to my Ryzen 5 3600, I have not been able to install windows 11 it boots from the usb and it goes through the install just fine, but when it reboots and the "getting devices ready" and stuff like that it gives a popup saying "windows failed to install". Yes I have TPM enabled with secure boot and all the necessary bits and bobs for windows 11. I have found a work around as installing windows 10 first then using Microsoft's update tool to update to windows 11, bit tedious but it works. Recently I have been thinking of moving to Linux and I cant because I have the usb all iso'ed up and usb booting in the bios, it boots into the usb but say zorin os I boot, I select Nvidia graphics mode and after it checks the files ZORIN comes up at the bottom but the problem is it goes really slow and then after that it just goes black and I need to reboot. Please help, I'm lost.

Also different subject, the motherboards I get they all get dogey ram slots in like a month or 2 of usage and I have no idea why. I dont man handle them, Its getting really annoying.

Typically this would mean there is some sort of hardware issue or confliction with the system. Typically it means the storage drive you are trying to install to or your ram may be bad. Is the storage drive you are putting the OS on an SSD or HDD and how old is it? Do you have a HDD in the system at all?

can you liveboot from a usb?

Try running a memory test in windows. (memtest64) to see if your ram is bad.

or try crystaldiscinfo to see if your drive is in good health.

Try unplugging all the drives your not installing to and then try installing or booting from your usb again.

Just have the drive your linux os will be installed on in the system and running.

Unplug every other drive in the system besides your OS drive you want it installed on and try installing that way. How old(power on hours) is the HDD you have in the system? Is it's smart stats good?

980's do have firmware updates available to them where they go into read only mode.

If you have another disk to try installing on, test it.

Or another RIG to attempt a firmware update on the 980.

For Linux I just boot into the usb and i cant even get into the the desktop where I install it.
