So a co worker of mine asked me to build him a PC for mostly playing WOW, Unreal Tournament, Doom, RTS games and he will probably buy ESO. He told me he wants to spend less than $600 on the PC.

My first question I have.... What kind of performance will can you get in the above games  at $600?

My second question i have... Can you guys help me build a PC for around $600? I'm not a good budget builder, I usually spend as much money as I need on my PC to get features that I want.

Thanks for the help guys. :)

I don't need a OS.

And I know about PC part picker, but I need help getting "the most bang for my buck"

If someone could use PC part picker and help me that would be great.

Click the link it has the build I picked out. It will give you the most gaming performance for your money.

With a $600 budget build, I imagine you can finish the year off playing the latest games on the lowest settings, probably a bit higher but I'm just setting expectations.

Anything 2012 and later, you'll be able to run no problem.

A quad core with a 270 will do way more that low settings look at the numbers.

I think you're setting expectations unreasonably low. The build listed above will play most games at high to ultra @1080p no AA at around 45-60fps, depending on the game.

For the games he's running, he will definitely be able to play at the highest settings @1080p 60-120fps, if not higher. (A little bit lower for ESO)

I'm that guy with the GPD Win.

Video Card:  MSI Radeon R7 265 2GB Video Card  ($135.00 @ Newegg)
Case:  NZXT Source 220 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($49.99 @ Mwave)
Power Supply:  XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($47.99 @ NCIX US)

Thats a terrible build.

its really not.

I would go with:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: AMD Athlon X4 750K $79.50 + $7.15 (Tax) = $86.65 @ Amazon (Overridden) /* SEE NOTE 1 */

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 $18.16 + $1.63 (Tax) = $19.79 @ NCIX US

Motherboard: ASRock FM2A78M-HD+ $52.99 + $6.98 (Shipping) + $4.76 (Tax) = $64.73 @ Newegg /* SEE NOTE 2 */

Memory: A-Data XPG V1.0 8GB $63.99 + $5.75 (Tax) = $69.74 @ Newegg

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB $54.44 + $4.89 (Tax) = $59.33 @ Amazon

Video Card: Gigabyte GTX 660 $159.99 + $14.39 (Tax) = $174.38 @ NCIX US

Case: Apex PC-389-C $29.99 + $2.69 (Tax) = $32.68 @ Amazon

Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Certified $39.50 + $3.55 (Tax) = $43.05 @ Amazon

Total: $498.56 + $6.98 (Shipping) + $44.81 (Tax) = $550.35

Note 1: The cpu is shown as cheaper on PCPL at tigerdirect, where I don't get charged tax, and outletpc, that hides shipping cost. its only a 18 cent difference between tiger and amazon, but if I bought from amazon, $7 would go to the state, so I'd prefer that.

Note 2: you have over $100 subtotal at NCIX, so you qualify for free shipping. if you can price match the motherboard at NCIX, you save $7 on shipping.

I couldn't get a 660 Ti in there unfortunately, so there's $50 for you to save your co-worker, or for you to swap parts around.

Shoot didn't see the quad core. I apologize, I glanced at the build and didn't pay much attention to it.
