In short, I have a Galaxy Tab S8 that I want to cast to a Windows 11 system. In the past I used Let's View to receive on PC but they done a big update to the software and its broken and/or behind a paywall now. Uninstalled.

I found Win11 now has "Wireless Display" app. It seems rather basic Miracast support, with no options. Tablet detects it, and when selected it tries to connect. I can see Wireless Display say a connection is incoming. Then after some seconds, nothing. It goes back to idle state on both ends. I can see the tablet listed in recently accessed devices. I've also checked it is allowed through Windows firewall. Both devices are on the same wifi network. There are no settings on either end I can find to tinker with.

Any ideas how to fix the above? Alternatively, any recommendations for other free software I can use on the Windows side to receive casting?

Edit: I found settings for casting to PC is in Windows settings. However even after tinkering with those, no progress.

Edit 2: tried connecting from my phone, same problem. I think this is pointing more towards a "Windows problem".

I'm just looking to cast screen, that looks like it offers control back to device also? An interesting application for some mobile games that don't have a PC version. Paid app though, and I can't see what limitations there may be on the "free" trial.

If you can muck around you could run windows subsystem for android on windows then muck around to get google play servicers on it and cute the tablet out all the way

Polygons? textures?  samples? You want it? It's yours, my friend, as long as you have enough Vram.

I've tried various Android emulators in the past and none of them perform nearly as well as real hardware. So pass.

Windows subsystem for android was build by Microsoft and based off Linux subs system  for windows while not on the same level bare metal they get very very close

I'll give it a try. It looks like the current official MS way to do it is to install Amazon Appstore so I'll use that as an easy proof of concept first, before deciding if I want to go further. Now I have to reboot after installing WSA.

Edit: none of the apps I want to test are on Amazon's store, so I'll have to try Play later. Out of time for now. Amazon's did feel pretty laggy already.

Edit 2: is there an easier way? https://www.androidauthority.com/how-to-install-google-play-store-on-windows-11-3049609/
