Good day,

Reaching out to this forum of endless knowledge in the hopes of learning a bit or two about my build.

Recently I tried to build myself a new platform (coming from 10850k) and aimed towards a 7800x3d with 32GB DDR5 6000MT CL40/CL36, however that failed horribly as I couldn't get to get the system stable whatsoever, ended up getting random freezes in desktop (idling), immediate freeze again while booting up, freezes in BIOS as well.. almost made me burst into tears. And yes, tried updated bios, tried stock ram speeds, tried 2 motherboards, multiple ram sticks.. probably a busted CPU.

Anyway, got tired of all the issues and went towards an 13900kf with 32 GB 6000MT CL32, everything seems to run just fine and got the system installed and running in almost 20 minutes; kind of a dream.

Now, the main challenge that I have and I don't understand is within CSGO:

- 7800x3d with 4800MT 32GB ram, while it ran for a short time, I was getting ~ 800 fps in a 10v10 DM server.

- 13900kf with 6000 MT 32 GB CL32/CL40, runs around 400-500-600 fps and goes up to 5.5 ghz (monitoring) on the same DM servers of 10v10 players. (same game settings)

(to note that the PSU that I have right now is a SuperFlower Golden King pro 600W, 80+ platinum bla bla, using it currently).

Could the 13900kf output less frames in this game at least due to the pretty much capped PSU?

I tried enabling Multicore Enhancement in bios and the system crashes while I launch the game, probably the PSU doesn't cut it?

Full specs:

Gigabyte Z790 Gaming X AX.

13900KF

32GB 6000MT CL32

Arctic Freezer II 360 AIO.

2TB SSD NVME (INTEL/Samsung)

4070ti

SuperFlower GoldenKingPro 600W

How are the 13900ks temps? It's possible for it to throttle if it gets too hot.  Causing lower performance. Also with a bit of research, the 7900x beats the 13900k in CSGO benchmark. Perhaps AMD just has some advantage in that game. How does your 13900k compare to others, you could try benchmarking stuff too see if it's underperforming elsewhere. Are you sure you had all the settings up. From what I saw 380 fps was the average for a 7900x in CSGO. So I imagine the 7800x3d would be about on par with the 13900k

going from 400 FPS to 800 FPS pretty much wont make any difference in csgo. Try a few different games to see if its comparable to reviewers with the 4070ti.

Other then that some games are optimized for certain hardware, some just perform better, and others its just what the engine allows.

Temps - 40-50 max (ingame)
- using all low settings ingame only, on both builds.

- other CPU intensive games I don't really play.. besides CSGO, maybe Tarkov any now and then but I don't trust that game as a  "benchmark"

- the power draw of the CPU (ingame) is around 80-120w, while the CPU goes up to 150w in other apps and games.. thus it has "room" if needed.

True but it just bugs me you know.. I play CSGO every now and then, but I was expecting more tbh.

Diablo 4 on Ultra goes between 280-360 fps, Dota2 on ultra high on a 12v12 goes 180-250 fps, Tarkov on Medium+DLSS 110-120 fps - all benched at 1920x1080.

It seems like everythings working.

Its probably what Shimejii said.
