seeing that its not in use would anyone recommend me running it on a gtx 1080. My only concern is that would the vrms and memory need any particular cooling or can i run the card with the included vrm fan providing dedicated airflow.

Yeah, the GDDR5X runs relatively cooler than the later GDDR versions. But if you can find those small raspberry pi heatsinks for each of the memory chips that would keep it even cooler.

I currently have a nzxt kraken g12 mount along with a 140mm liquid aio, seeing that its not in use would anyone recommend me running it on a gtx 1080. My only concern is that would the vrms and memory need any particular cooling or can i run the card with the included vrm fan providing dedicated airflow.

I do have a box of rasberry pi heatsinks, are there any other components that would require cooling other than the memory chips. With regards to the g12.

VRM should be fine for stock cooling, just make sure those heatsinks are contacting a thermal interface material. Preferably thermal pads that's embedded to the heatsink.
