I've been seeing RTX 3060M cards on aliexpress recently for around £160 and since they are mobile versions i've been thinking about adding it to my optiplex 9020 with an i7 4790 since it shouldn't really bottleneck I think. Would this work well?

it could work well however there is always a risk when buying from ali express. does the gpu have a power connector because your optiplex probbably does not have a spare one

Yes, because I have an aerocool cylon 500W installed in the optiplex

Mobile chips don't draw too much power. Then again its good to check. With a 500w psu they should be fine

Nope. I would get an rx 580 or an rx 6600 instead

yeah, the 3060M's work okay.

 

But an RX 6600 would be at least as good, and about the same price (and available not from ali)
