what used microdimms?

I was taking an A+ Certification sample test and I stumbled onto this question and "correct" answer makes absolutely no sense. It says the correct answer is 214 pin MicroDIMM

 

 

44. You need to replace the memory in an ultrabook for a customer. Which of the following is most likely the correct type of memory?
 

A. MicroDIMM with 214 pins

B. MicroDIMM with 144 pins

C. SODIMM with 172 pins

D. SODIMM with 144 pins

 

 

The term Ultrabook was coined by Intel in mid 2011 to make notebooks more sexy, mobile and mimic the largely popular MacBook Air, the first Ultrabook was when Asus revealed the Zenbook at Computex in 2011, well after the introduction of DDR3. By far the most used RAM was 204 pin DDR3 SODIMMs, DDR3 came out in 2007 but wasnt really used in systems until 2008 for the most part. MicroDIMMs were largely DDR2 with a few DDR3 modules but it was pretty much proprietary and was never really used. Also many Ultrabooks have non replaceable ram that is soldiered into the motherboard.

 

So why would the correct answer be MicroDIMM when its an unused, outdated and relatively unknown? The correct answer should be a 204 pin DDR3 SODIMM that is not listed or that its not user replaceable. I am assuming this the answer is assumes is correct in fact is completely wrong from a logical prospective. Maybe some random manufacturer uses it but for the most part its wrong

Well, of the 4 choices, the 214 pin micro is probably correct - don't overthink it. :)
