Hey is a 500w powersupply enough to run a AMD a10 7850k black edition and a R9 290 4GB?

NO, The 290 alone needs 450W to run on the safe Zone, so i'd Recommend some around 650~750W because thous GCN Based GPUs Does Consume Much

500W would work but you would be drawing about 400 - 450W (in total).I suggest you buy a 600W or 650W power supply.

No... you are completely wrong. In total those 2 draw about 400W, 450W is the suggestion from AMD/Supplier side that already take CPU in to account. A 500W PSU could run this easily. But it just a habit of mine + for safety headroom I usually add around 100-200W to the actual power draw, so a 550W or 600W is better. If you want a bit of headroom for crossfire later on then go with a 750W, a 850-1000W is usually for a 3 ways SLI/Crossfire system.
