Hi everyone! I'm looking to setup a new Mesh Wifi network in my house. I already had a TP-Link Deco P9 system from my previous place, but during shipping (by sea, we moved countries) at least one of 'm developed an issue where TP link says it may be a hardware fault, but I need to contact the place where I bought it originally, but it's in another country and out of warranty anyway...

So, I want to start from scratch and get myself a new Mesh Wifi setup.

So, let's see what I have already:

A 1 Gbps connection

A Sagemcom modem/router from my ISP

Problems to take into account: The connection 'enters' my home in a meter cupboard/meter box, where te modem is also located. This would be a logical point for the main Mesh AP, but... it's inside of a closet/cupboard. There are options to drill a hole in the back of it, and have a wall mountable AP in the living room.

But the main question I have is, how do I work with my ISP's modem. It's a fibre connection, so there's an NT, and then this Sagemcom modem behind it that also functions as a router. It feels like it's an extra useless step in between. I already get slower wifi in general on the current TP link system then directly when standing right next to them. (I have disabled wifi on the Sagemcom modem, but enabled it for a speedtest)

My ISP says it is possible to replace the modem with one of my own.

What would you advice me to do, and would you recommend a certain brand/product? Oh, our laptops are ready for Wifi 6E, so I'm looking to go for that while I'm renewing everything anyway.
