Hi, I've recently bought Ryzen 7 5700X, and I'm looking to upgrade my GTX 1060 6GB for something newer and more powerful. I will use the newer GPU mainly for video editing, streaming, and gaming in 1080p. I should mention that I live in Poland, so the prices differ from US prices. My first choice was RTX 4070, but the cheapest Palit costs around $700 or 3000 PLN, which is too much. I'm willing to spend around $600 or 2500 PLN. The next card is RTX 3080, but it is almost impossible to find a new one, and even if it is available, it's the same price as the 4070. As it comes to the rest of the GPUs from the 3000, 4000 series, they have sub-8GB VRAM, which probably is not going to suffice in the future. I will be grateful for any advice.

1080p isn't very demanding, a used GPU from last generation would do nicely

Consider an AMD graphics card, a lot of their offerings have more vram. A 6700 XT would do nicely, I did a quick search and it looks like you can get one for about 1800pln

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

I've never bought used GPU and I'm too afraid to buy them since there are many GPUs that were used for mining.

what editing apps are you using? Cuda can make a difference but only if a program is using Cuda in the first place.

The only cards from 3000 are 3070 ti and lower which are within my budget but have only 8GB VRAM and I've seen them lacking in some games like The Last of us, and Hogwarts Legacy. People above mentioned AMD cards and they are very appealing, but I would like to hear from someone personal experience how is video editing on AMD GPUs really like.

I mainly use DaVinci Resolve.

Mostly BS, only real difference is if you need CUDA for AI or such, and VR in some cases (but AMD drivers are getting better at it)

For DVR it's 10% worse than a 3070 but it's much faster in gaming (+25%)

Take a look at the newer benchmarks https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/nvidia-rtx-4070-and-4060-ti-8gb-content-creation-review/ it appears that it could be even faster now. I see that you are using AMD GPU, could describe to me how is your experience so far ?

The 6000 series is pretty awful for video editing - dunno about streaming.   Yeah, if you want to do any video editing - stay with Nvidia unless you have a budget to consider the 7900 series.   If you game at 1080p or 1440p - consider a used card like the other guy said.   A 3080 Ti or 3090 - might be at an okay price near you?

A 3080 is as good in gaming?   The 6000 series is a gaming card, period.   For the $$ you spend on the 6000 series - for it to suck so bad at video editing, it's a terrible value.   The 3080 or 3090 used - allows 'all-purpose' or multiple-use - for around the same price as a 6800 XT or 6950 XT?

Yup in gaming the 3080 is on par with a 6800XT, but it's usually way more expensive now because there isn't much stock left anywhere

If you go used you can find some but again they cost more than 6800XT

The 8gb cards are crippled Nvidia cards - I don't think we should 'award' Nvidia by buying these cards - and I acknowledge/realize these are decent for video editing - but, if you are gaming, too - the 8gb is really low and that might be a limiting factor at some point.   I think they're also expensive too - for what you get.   I would recommend a used 3080 Ti or even 3090 if budget allows - sure, many out there were used for mining - but, if you really look - maybe you can find a good deal - some ppl insist their card was used for gaming and sure, it's a risk.   Some ppl even permit you to look at the card in a PC but I don't know how common that is - I doubt it's pretty rare.

The Asus Tuf and MSI Trio cards - are pretty quiet and have good coolers - if a miner knew what he was doing - it should still be a decent (working) card.

But, to each their own - the AMD 6900 series - are good for gaming - maybe they are still available new - so, you'd get a full warranty - but, they are lacking at video editing - and some ppl claim the software often crashes - but, I think the negative for me is that they are behind a 3070 and 3080 - and around the same price as the Nvidia cards.

Still available new?   In my country - used AMD cards have no transferable warranty - at least, the AIB partner cards - (MSI and Asus are exceptions but they're not exclusive AMD).

If they are available new - in Poland - I dunno if they are worth it at the price.   I guess, if you value getting full warranty and many ppl want that safeguard.   It's good for gaming and if you use Linux - it's good for that, too.   But, for video editing, they pretty slow, unfortunately - at least, in comparison to the Nvidia cards which have similar performance.

You should buy from Germany, all cards are available

I don't do video editing but from what I've seen AMD cards are really bad only on Blender according to Puget reviews

Puget, techgage, various benchmarks on youtube, open data (website) for blender....

The other allegations are crashes in video editing software - although, that could be a case by case basis - but, just something to look into.   Regardless, there's not many advocates for AMD 6000 series in Blender or video editing.
