HDD

So, I found a old hard drive from A PC that I had when I was about 5 years old. Plugged it into my PC now and I found that the HDD still has Windows XP and a bunch of little learning games from 10 and a half years ago. I wanted to completely wipe the drive, but I couldn't do it because there were still OEM files on there that I needed Admin consent to delete. Also, the drive sounds like a 15-year-old rusty garbage disposal. Any tips?

if the drive sounds that bad it's probably close to dying anyways, so, it's not worth spending much time on saving.

 

But go into "Disk Management" and delete the partitions, and then make a new one.  Everything will be gone, and no password needed.

Its been a while. Might be able to boot up in a command line and use Dos to delete the Fdisk and reformat the hard drive.

Any way to stop the noise? would I have to disassemble it? Or is it just not fixable

generally HDDs are not fixable

I meant, like is there any way to fix the noise that emanates from it when I am transferring or downloading files

nope, not really.  All HDDs make noise, and if they start sounding noisier than normal, that's when you save stuff quickly
