personally, I would go with the r5 5500 (even if it's an i3 but it's a 4c 8t). and if you can go to b550 mbo

So, I would go for the intel build, as it has a better upgrade path, but I would go for the Ryzen build if you plan not to upgrade (which looks like, you do).

I do not really know how either of those will last 10 years, but because the R5 is faster (multi core) than the i3, I think that you will have more luck with the R5, in terms of longevity. Then again, your games rather single core performance over multicore, so if you are confident enough to say that you will be playing them for the next 10 years (which is not even virtually true, trust me) you should go with the i3.

My conclusion will be going for the Ryzen 5 5500 system. It has more cores, more threads. It can overclock and it will be a great CPU in your system for the years to come. But for it to last 10 years, you should be extremely lucky. At most this will last for another 4 years, if the recent competition between AMD and intel is anything to go by. The CPUs that could last 10 years were the CPUs that came after the release of the Core architecture in 2006 until somewhere after the release of the Sandy Bridge architecture. Innovation was rather slow back then, as it took intel another 5 generations to remove the quad core from it's high end consumer grade hardware.

Okay, go intel and upgrade it to an i9 or an i7 later that should make it last longer, alternatively you can go AMD and get a 5800X3D.
