7900XTX AV1 Encoder issues

So i clip a lot of footage from various games, and this issue is on each one of them

 

having 7900xtx AV1 encoder VS my old 6750xt H265 encoder has brought some serious issues (to me at least)

 

when i clip somehing and go open the clip, its either only audio or doesnt get past 1 frame, progress bar keeps going but freezes video after 1 frame

 

however when i click to a any point on the progress bar it shows the frame of what it should be, and not the frozen frame, its like the video is there but you cant watch it unless you click each and every frame

 

anyone else with this issue?

 

Sapphire Nitro 7900xtx paired with 32gb ram 3200 and 5800x3d, all games

What are you opening with? You need a player which supports it.

Yeah, unfortunately the AV1 encode is one of the things being implemented still. I think YT and other streaming platforms have implemented it properly, players not so sure. VLC should have support, but not sure how good

 

AMD driver side could be the issue, AV1 is rather new thing.

well tbh i did have to rma the gpu since it had artifacts, maybe that was also not working correctly.

still weird that video is technicaly there but not when regularly playing

Atrifacting? Are you sure its hardware related, not drivers being raw?

 

I get artefacts in specific scenarios, not overall corrupt pixels regardless of the scene. Also, I have seen people report weird texture glitches due to decompression done on CPU instead of GPU. 

 

So many added points of failure in the chain again...

 

But hopefully the new unit is ok

Yeah, that does look like some hardware artifacting. Good luck with your RMA

 

I run my card at stock AMD settings right now. Not gonna raise any conspiracy, but could also be some weird glitch because of OC BIOS cant control memory. But thats just pure speculation, based on different BIOS...
