New mobo not detecting GPU

Master Ace

I finally saved up some money and decided to upgrade my cpu, mobo and ram.

Specs:

  • MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI (previously Gigabyte Z390 auros pro)
  • i7-13700KF (previously i9-9900k)
  • 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000MHz (previously 4x8 GB Corsair vengeance lpx DDR4 3200MHz)
  • Silverstone 850W 80 plus gold
  • Gigabyte RTX 3080 Eagle OC 10G

The Problem:

I installed and connected everything, but the mobo led indicator is glowing white, menaing no gpu detected according to the manual. The chip is KF so no integrated graphics so i cant even enter bios without the GPU.

What i tried:

  • Re-seated the GPU in both first and second slot several times.
  • Triple checked and replugged the power cables.
  • Tried the second 8 pin connectors on both cables.
  • Tried a friends GTX 1080 TI in both slots (same issue)

Is there something wrong with the PCIE on this mobo?

Likely a broken motherboard, if you bought the motherboard from something like Amazon they will give you a refund and you can probably keep the board too.  If you bought from something like ebay, use the purchase protection to get your money back. If your purchase protection is over, ask  the seller for the original receipt so that you can RMA it
