Ryzen 9 3900x Performance Issues

Go to solution Solved by tkitch,

So, the H510 is kinda a shit case for cooling.  It runs very warm, and short of cutting holes in it, you can't do much about that.

The H212 is NOT a great cooler for that CPU, doubly so when it's in a very warm case.

You need a better cooler minimum.  (DeepCool AK 620 would be a good one to pick)

If you wanted to update the case to one with better cooling, that would also not go amiss.

spacer.pngHello all,

Recently ive noticed performance issues on my PC. Upon further investigation is seems like my CPU is well under performing. It is not over heating.

My power supply is a few years older than the rest of my PC as I built this when power supplies were in short supply and didn't want to wait for the new one to come in so I used the power supply from my old build.

It has been running fine for a few years until recently which is making me wonder if I have a power supply issue.

The screenshot is my system performance with some firefox tabs open with noticeable hangups when loading new pages/switching tabs.

Any ideas?

Can't tell much with that few data on an idle CPU...

Browser hangups are most likely due to Internet, hard drive or RAM issues/slowness

Run Cinebench and show scores and HWinfo64 clocks and power usage while it runs

Ok so it is definitely over heating. But what I am confused about is when I am playing Red Dead Redemption 2, just picked it up when it was on sale, my auto starts stuttering, my input gets delayed. Delayed as in if I alt tab and try to type something into like a search bar somewhere not everything I type shows up and most of the time it will get hung up on one letter and just keeps inputting that letter for a few seconds.

Everything I googled says it is probably a cpu issue. It over heated during cinebench but was fine during red dead.

Cinebench score was a 17518.

That is during cinebench.

This is during read dead with the audio stutters and system laggyness present. And I did try lowering graphics settings with no difference what so ever. Game runs around 60fps as well.

what cpu cooler is on your processor?  And what case is it in?

And if it's overheating on Cinebench it's NOT fine, and I question your judgements about other things you said.

Cooler is a Cooler Master Hyper 212 and case is a NZXT H510 ATX mid tower case.

Its just weird that I havent had any issues in the few years since ive had this setup.

Do you have any case recommendations? I don't mind going up in size if necessary.

you may also be running into other issues with windows or other things, too.

but your CPU hitting 95c is 110% a problem, and will cause throttling issues regularly.

As for cases?  There are hundreds.  Look on youtube for Gamers Nexus Best PC Cases (2022/2023) and see if there's something you like.

Thank you for the suggestions and help!
