I am having issues with my internet connection.

a bit of background, i live in the accommodation block of a military camp and my ISP is a large company called Wifinity. a couple of weeks ago they came in and done some work in the accommodation block, i believe they changed the ethernet sockets in the rooms but im not entirely sure, anyway since then i have been have intermittent complete disconnects from the network but only when doing specific things like online gaming. when streaming or downloading games the  connection is pretty stable (although slow as hell)

ive attached a screenshot from  the internet connection log from a 20 minute online session on Iracing as you can see it drops consistently for 8-10 seconds at a time.

i believe it could be a problem with the upload side of the connection as it only seems to happen when doing stuff like this. im constantly on at wifinity to come and check the network but they are a pain in the arse to deal with. does anyone have any advice on what the issue may be? so i can go straight to the technical support team with it TIA

Because it specifically happens when gaming and not during other things, normally I'd recommend trying a VPN to see if the issue clears up.

 

However, given you're on a military site, I assume this has a high chance of being an awful idea, and may get a very hostile response from the authorities for even trying!

il give that a try and see if a VPN helps in anyway.

it just this started happening they day they came in and replaced hardware in the building. im thinking it could be something as simple as network switch reset but trying to deal with these big companys is a right pain. all you can speak top are customer service agents that are just going off a script. i was on chat with one the that day for 20 minutes trying to explain to them that i was connected via the ethernet and not WIFI 🤦‍♂️ hard work

sounds more like they replaced the router and fucked up the MTU setup getting drops all the time. 

years since i saw similar.. but it came when larger packets was sent.. 

and they have to fix it.....
