AM5 and memory question

I am considering an all-AMD build for my next upgrade. In one of the videos shortly after the AM5 launch, Linus mentioned that the CPUs run most stable when only 2 sticks of RAM are used. Is this still the case?

Yes. There are some signal integrity issues, that you probably don't have to worry about. But you'll also just have twice the chance of failure with twice the amount of RAM sticks.

 

Specifically with DDR5, going from 2 to 4 sticks of RAM also usually lowers the maximum speed that is supported on the current platforms.

Definetely stick to 2 unless you need 128 / 192 gb

So what does Intel do differently, then? Or do their CPUs risk the same instability with more modules?
