i think the flash guard you heard of is flashgard which is a brand for a screen protector, and from my little research i think flashgard is a hydro gel screen protector. so i would go for whatever you prefer if you want more protection then tempered glass if you just want to prevent scratch then hydro gel is good enough

Does hydro gel protects when phone falls down or it is just for scratch resistant
