I should stop building computers.

mynameGeoff

We built a crazy expensive portable NVMe video editing server earlier this year, but then ASUSTOR launched this, a substantially less expensive machine that does basically the same thing.

Buy an Asustor Flashstor 6 Portable NAS: https://geni.us/QwAP02

Buy Crucial 3200MHz CL22 2x16GB DDR4 RAM: https://geni.us/x7Ag1FP

Buy SABRENT Rocket 4TB NVMe M.2 SSD: https://geni.us/J3AN

Buy an Ubiquiti Switch Flex XG: https://geni.us/Coynsyh

Buy an Apple Macbook Pro M2 14": https://geni.us/8NSzhI

Buy a CalDigit External 10 GbE Adapter: https://geni.us/SF3l

Purchases made through some store links may provide some compensation to Linus Media Group.

In the video it was stated that TrueNas could be installed on this...  Have you heard of anyone successfully doing this yet?  Has the LTT crew done it yet?  Other articles I've seen seem to suggest the existing OS is the only one that can be used.

But.. if TrueNas CAN be installed on it...

you can run truenas off a USB Stick, and ignore the onboard OS entirely.

You know this for a fact?  You have one and have tried this yourself?

I'm tempted to get one of these for a plex server. I am interested in seeing how it performs

I'm really liking this new name/thumbnail scheme, no clickbait, just great 👀

So I ordered one of these, but I haven't ordered drives yet. I just got the 6 drive version and I was wondering if anyone has suggestions mainly for dram vs dramless I don't know if it'll make much of a difference on something like this. I've had one person tell me that I should get dram drives because they'll last longer but I figured this would be the best place to ask.
