unknown graphic/memory/crashing problem

SaltySoda93

reiteration of my past, and unhelpful, reddit post

====

At first i restarted firefox, then the computer, then i cleared cache, updated my graphics, all the basic stuff.

Removed all external drives, freshly installed windows. Problem is still here. GIMP can't export jpg. Chrome, edge, and opera all crash. Firefox works still, with sporadic crashes. Other browsers say "status access violation." DISM and SFC found nothing. Antivirus found nothing. All my net searches bring irrelevant results. Memory diagnostics hangs at 21 without cache enabled on extended mode. 2 days for 2 passes and it turned up nothing.

the amount of things i have toggled and reinstalled is insane.

you neednt download anything. but theres lines across images and buggy video playback. theres artifacts on any browser-type images (steam and firefox for example). the blurry image is the image exported by GIMP during the error it gave. video is quick but shows a screenshot of some of the bug

motherboard wasnt it either, cpu is next

---

additional: windows is on nvme. so i installed win10 onto sata ssd and graphical error went down, but were still apparent. chrome and edge crashed a ton, but had no artifacts. firefox did not crash, but had all the graphical errors.

new theory is the nvme ssd AND the cpu are the problem

I really dont think its a GPU problem, usually taking screenshots or videos of dying GPUs wont show the glitches/artifacts.

Also you said that you reinstalled windows, so that eliminates it.

I think its the cpu, but not necessarily the NVMe, as it could be a fault with the cpu's PCIe lanes or bad pin connections.
