When I do specific tasks on my computer, my screen just starts flashing black for no reason, showing a black screen for half of the display, or the pixels start going double and wont go away. The only way for me to get rid of it is by shutting down the program, or restarting my computer and trying again.

I've seen this happen most in Minecraft, Premier Pro, Word, and specific Youtube videos (I don't remember the links)

My specs are:

  • Windows 11 Home
  • HP 868E Bios Version 65.13 (Latest)
  • Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1035G1 CPU @ 1.00GHz   1.20 GHz
  • 8GB RAM
  • Intel(R) UHD Integrated Graphics
  • SK hynix BC511 SSD
  • Segate Expansion SW SCSI Secondary Storage Device

I do run 2 monitors, one being the default laptop one and the other being a small tv, but even with the TV disconnected, it still has the problem

I could be wrong but it sounds like you are pushing the laptop beyond its capability.

You look at things like virtual memory size under settings. but 8 gigs of ram is very minimal by todays standards.

also the UHD is very low end today.

I think all you can do is try to turn off everything you do not need.

So when running any applications they get all the resources.

So, would a ram and gpu upgrade do the trick then?

I have no idea of your financial situation and advising you to do ram would help but possibly the PC you have is just not worth the investment.

Your Laptop I believe is from 2019 as that is when the CPU was brought to market.

Personally I would just try to get a cheap memory upgrade but I think you are stuck with the intel graphics and for gaming you are pretty much at the low end of the spectrum until such time as you can afford a PC or better laptop.
