Hello everyone!

Budget (including currency): 1000-1500 (USD) | 4500-6500 (MYR)

Country: Malaysia.

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

- Games ranging from AAAs to Indie titles.

- Streaming/Recording in OBS.

- Video Editing in Premiere Pro and After Effects.

- Some 3D work in Blender.

Other details:

Some Notes:

1. I know a bit about PCs in general but I'm still quite new to all this.

2. This is my first build. I've only used laptops up to this point.

3. Looking for a reasonably small and portable build (ITX, Small-ish monitor, etc) as I'll move between countries atleast twice a year and due to space constraints.

4. I want it to be fully air-cooled.

5. I don't plan to upgrade any time soon.

6. What I need from this setup:

    - Gaming: Run AAA games on 1440p, Medium settings, avg., 1% and 0.1% lows of atleast >75 fps.

    - Streaming/Recording: Handle 2k60 recording/streaming with good stability and headroom for other tasks. (ex. 50+ chrome tabs, bunch of extra software, etc.).

    - Video Editing: Handle 2k60 footage under a handful of effects with smooth timeline scrubbing, good rendering/encoding times and good stability and headroom for other tasks.

    - 3D Work: Handle medium/high polygon sculpting.

After a few days of very slow research, I came up with this part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Mc2yGL

- I haven't finalized some parts yet such as the RAM, SSD and GPU.

- I'll be getting a used GPU which will either be a 3060 TI or 3070. (~50 USD | ~200 MYR difference)

- All parts will be bought locally at ~1080 USD | ~4800 MYR in total (Just the PC).

After making that list, I've been stuck in a dilemma. I feel like these parts would be a tad bit overkill for my needs BUT I should still go for it as it's a new build in 2023 and I won't be doing any significant upgrades for atleast 5 or 6 years. So, I'd like some advice to help clear it.

I'd also like some suggestions on the PC parts I haven't finalized yet and a monitor.

If you feel like being extra generous, throwing in some recommendations on peripherals such as a keyboard, mic, headset and dac would be really nice too.

Thanks!

You could save a bit by using standard ATX case, board and PSU rather than ITX

I have no exact experience in ITX build, but just be wary that even though your choice of case (Cooler Master MaterBox NR200 Mini ITX) advertise can support tower style air cooler up to 155mm, your cooler heatsink dimension is 154mm in length which means that it has a narrow gap to temper glass case, or at worst case you have to remove side temper glass.

Just don't forget to add cooling fan for front/side and bottom since the case only has rear and top pre-installed (link for reference: https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/cases/mini-itx/masterbox-nr200/)

For Monitor, I'm not sure what size of your preference and resolution, but because of your mobile activity, I would assume 24"-27" to be enough:

  • Samsung ODYSSEY G5 (1440p, 27*, curved, the cheapest option, cons: LCD panel, not for professional content creator)
  • Asus TUF Gaming VG27AQ (1440p, 27", IPS, cons: slightly more expensive, not really accurate color for professional content creator)
  • LG Ultragear 27GL850B  (1440p, 27", IPS, very great color accuracy cons: the most expensive)

As for keyboard peripherals, I prefer mechanical keyboard with red switches, and with budget, so Redragon K552 because it's cheap and a upgradeability, a lot of keyboard youtube for reference on upgrading that keyboard

For headset, it really depends on your preference, whether you want simple all-in-1 gaming headset, or separated headphone and microphone

If you prefer headset, I suggest Audio-Technica ATH-GLD3 (it doesn't really have to be Audio-Technica brand, but it's better to buy from reputable audio company such as Sennheiser, Bose, Sony, AKG) rather than gaming focused company or worse: Chinese unknown brand that is surely infesting all South East Asian market

I personally prefer separated microphone and headphone

For microphone, I use Behringer XM8500 but you will need audio interface (DAC) to change XLR interface to USB, it does more complicated than headset mic, but I can assure you it sounds waaaaaay much better than stock headset, while it cost around USD20 (cable and audio interface not included)

For DAC, if you're using budget microphone Behringer XM8500 as I suggested, you may buy Behringer UM2 as sound interface.

For headphone, I admit I am a bit of fanboy, I use Audio-Technica ATH-M50X, it is one of the most popular headphones around the world, and most surround system software has specific preset for that headphone such as DTS.
