LTT Umbrella?

Lyssastrasza

It's starting to get wet and windy in Australia and I've had 3 umbrellas break in 3 weeks while walking to work. The mechanisms are always horribly weak, getting bent out of shape by a strong gust, getting crushed because someone accidentally leaned their bike up against it, or the fabric manages to get ripped in one way or another.

Would love to see a high quality LTT Umbrella, also a suggestion for what I should buy for now would be welcome.

It might be a cool idea but in the meantime have you tried Bunnings Umbrellas? They have been the most reliable umbrellas I've used. Parents have some old ones that are over 10 years old IIRC.

I have one of these and they're built like a bloody tank. Barely flexes in strong winds and the automatic mechanism gives a satisfyingly solid feel.

Though the fabric is starting to come loose from one of the ends after a couple of years of use.

That being said, you're not using one of those compact umbrellas are you? Those aren't going to be able to put up with wind. The one I carrying in my bag is a Shedrain one which has held up 4 years of Vancouver abuse so that might be worth looking at.

What you want is a good golf umbrella. Those are built well. Alternatively, just buy a Bunnings umbrella. They're decent. But then again I don't know if you can actually buy them, as the 2 I own, they just appeared one day. We never bought them.

That's absolutely not true. Senz (Mini) for example makes absolutely excellent umbrella's, I had mine for a couple of years and it held up fantastic in the wind. Sure they are tougher to hold than full sized one, but that's because of the shorter grip mine had, but I had no other issues. I lost mine (probably left it on the train), and still sad about that, but I don't use it often enough to buy a new one. I do have another brand, which is solid as well, that I got for quite a bit cheaper, not sure what the brand is.

It's a Dutch brand btw, which is where I live, and these things have been very popular here for many years.
