New computer build - Spec check

I have no issues with going to a matx mobo as long as it can still hold the preferably 6 USB A ports and at least 1 USB C port. Ill take a look at the pop air mini though - currently have a Meshify S2.

for your whole build with an matx mobo and case I would go with this build: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/cnGhC6

Budget (including currency): ~$6,000 AUD

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly games ranging from good ol Minecraft to Doom Eternal, Blade and Sorcery (VR) and Forza Horizon 5.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I currently already have a Gigabyte M27QP (Highly recommend) which i will hopefully be getting 2 more in the near future or at least 1440p Monitors to have a 3x monitor setup. the Gigabyte monitor also support HDR in games with high refreash rate which my current RTX 2080 Super doesnt handle too nicely. I also intend to re-use my SSDs from my computer, one if not both. Definitely the M.2 Samsung 970 Evo 1TB will be used in the new computer and likely another M.2 if i can find a spare. Other than that, i am effectively hoping to have a second computer after this meaning motherboard, GPU, Power supply, CPU and cooler will all still be used in the another computer.

My current thoughts are in this part picker list:

https://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/Madegam/saved/gyGn23

I was also hoping for a small as possible build, I'm happy to size down the mother board as long as it can support at least 6 USB A connections and at least 1 USB C connection (Not including front IO).

Current worries is A: 64GB of ram is effectively unnecessary, an i9 is also unnecessary however also i would like as many cores as possible as i am currently going through university with a focus in Multi core programming & i tend to dabble with other programs that support multi cores.

Would like to stick with Asus if possible - i have found them to be really reliable but i am open to recommendations, hence why i am posting 🙂

Thanks for your help in advance

That MB is completely overkill

maybe AMD for gaming?

I hit 700W on an i5 with a NHD15

Also I'm 14 so please just confirm anything I say with someone more experienced

Is there any particular AMD cpu you'd recommend for roughly the same performace? Ive always seen intel and know enough to have skipped the last few generations because of thermals but no idea about AMD's types/generations of CPUs

7800x3d and you can get much better performance than the 13900k. Also it can actually be cooled under 100 degrees

13900k thermals will shock you, even on a good cooler that CPU loves to go to 100°C and throttle

Was not aware of that. I am currently running an i9-10900 which was handed down when a close friend went and got his own upgrade and i have had no issues with it ever - hence why i thought it was still reasonable.

Ill have to do some good research into AMD - see what is around. Thanks for the list as a starting guide into AMD.

Is there any Mini-ATX cases or slightly smaller cases* that you could recommend other than the Lian Li case?
(Edit: *That aren't going to make it into a small sun sitting on my desk)

I have no issues with going to a matx mobo as long as it can still hold the preferably 6 USB A ports and at least 1 USB C port. Ill take a look at the pop air mini though - currently have a Meshify S2.

I'd just get a founder's RTX 4080 for better case compatibility. Using the same cooler as the 550W capable RTX 4090 is plenty, the gucci versions just be beyond reasonable.

I'd also look for a native ATX 3.0/PCIe 5.0 power supply like the Seasonic Vertex series.
