Hello,

I'm looking for some advice on switching out my SSD in my laptop. I currently have a 500GB NVME SSD in my ASUS laptop and would like to switch to a 1TB.

Can you tell me what the best way is to switch these so that I don't mess anything up or is it as simple as just switching them out?

Thank you,

easiest way is to buy one of these inexpensive adapters, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MTTCC4H
place your new ssd in it, plug it into your pc, and use either the cloning software provided with your sdd or if none, you can use free version of maccrium reflect. though lately they have made it very frustrating to install the free version.

after that you may swap the drive inside the laptop with the new one

if the laptop have 2 slots, its as easy as buying one from Samsung/WD/Seagate/ADATA, plug it in, and use their software clone it to the new drive, wipe the old drive, switch slot and and your are done.

If your laptop only have 1 slot, then you will need a USB-NVME SSD enclosure/ like OhYou_ said. Note some only supports SATA SSD, and some only supports NVMe.
