Keep getting kernel power 41 while playing games

Go to solution Solved by manikyath,

that is an OLD power supply.. (if i got the correct one on google, that is.. i'm finding 2006-2011)

based on that, and this:

i'm gonna assume you're hitting some protection in the power supply. might be time to retire a relic.

Whenever I play games like rainbow six siege I get a bsod with the error code: WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR or I get a random restart. When I check event viewer I get critical error kernel power 41. I just want to know if I have to replace any parts. I built this computer recently and tried almost everything I can do. My psu and gpu are the only old part.

specs:

CPU: AMD RYZEN 5 5600x

GPU: MSI GTX 970

RAM: T-force rgb 32gb

MOTHERBOARD: B550 aorus elite ax v2

SSD: WD BLUE SN570 1TB

PSU: corsair HX520W

Yeah I was assuming that was the problem just wanted to make sure none of my newer parts were damaged

System should be less than 520W draw, but its possible you're at 75% capacity and therefore sub 400W which a 5600x and GTX 970 system could reach. I'd estimate both of those to potentially 425W. 225W (GPU) + 150W (CPU) + 50W (system). CPUs in gaming usually not having high consumption in most games but can spike to maximum TDP.

So a new PSU might be in order. 600W being a good middle ground.
