I recently bought a new modem and router. I live on the third floor and have been trying to get some wifi up here. The repairman had setup the new router and modem. The old router was put on the second floor. I am currently using a D-link switch to connect the router downstairs to the router upstairs. When the router upstairs is on, the computer connected to the switch is unable to join discord or play games but weirdly youtube and the browser works. Could someone help pls? Would mean a lot?

The problem with this is my brother lives on the third floor with me and wifi connection is bad up there. Is there no way for the routers to not conflict?Thx for the replies btw. Much appreciated

If you want people to see your reply, quote them or @ them, so they are notified.

You'd need to log into the second router and make sure it's using a different IP subnet than the first.

Most routers use 192.168.1.XXX for their network.  If you change the upstairs so it's a 192.168.2.XXX it can work, but you'd need to change the router IP, DHCP Pool, etc.

You also want it to go in this order:

Downstairs Router [Lan Port] -->  Switch -->  Upstairs Router [WAN Port]  (Don't put the switch on both routers in the LAN)
