**Help Please**

Go to solution Solved by tkitch,

If the problem is this bad?  Do a fresh install, wipe the drives, and reinstall from scratch.

Don't do a reset.

My friend has a 3090 with an NZXT N7 Z690 Motherboard, all drivers up to date with no crashes and the PC runs flawlessly, until he restarts it for updates or shuts it down, it can take up to an hour to shut down or restart,
we think its a corrupt file but we have done everything from cmd scannow etc, fixed files, looked all over the internet but nothing is working, we think the next stage is to reset the pc, we couldn't do system restore as windows turned that option off by default!!
Any suggestions please? 😭😭

A system restore is relatively easy these days. As long as he saves his files, he can simply reinstall Windows from the settings menu.

If that doesn't help, flashing a new image can help.

But back to your question.

For some reason the PC is having a hard time processing shutdown. Have you checked the Windows system logs to see what it's hanging on?
