Hello,

A friend just upgraded his old GPU to a 750Ti, and he also upgraded the PSU to a CX500M (prebuilt computer).

The installation went fine, he was able to boot, and he was able to install the drivers from the disk that came with the GPU.

He tried updating to Nvidia's latest WHQL drivers for the 750Ti, but in the middle of the driver update his screen went black. Since then, he hasn't been able to get a signal

The monitor isn't reading a signal from the DVI port when I plug it into the mobo.

I also just tried hooking up the monitor with an hdmi cable and the monitor gets a signal, but still the screen is blank.

I'm really not sure what the problem is, do you guys have any idea how to fix this? His monitor is properly plugged and everything, and it worked fine with the new card before the drivers update.

He can't even reach the BIOS or boot in safe mode, since there's no signal.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The monitor cable? It was plugged in the GPU at first (black screen) and he tried the MB after, still no signal. Since the 750Ti is powered by PCI-e alone (no external PSU cable), should he try to remove it completely and boot without?

Thanks for the help though :)

Sorry mate, must have mis-read it :/

Yeah give that ago, assuming you have on board graphics. If not, try plugging in another card and the required power cables (if any). If you can get it into safe mode strip out all the nvidia software and start again.
