Budget (including currency): unknown

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Apex Legends, Streamlabs, Discord. GTA 5, as well as stream other PC games.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I have a 11700KF and a 3050 with 32gb of ram, 650W PSU on a ASUS Prime B560M-A.  I have a 32" 2k monitor (cheap g-sync)and a 40" 1080p TV (no freesync or g-sync).

I was wondering what GPU would be able to play games like Apex, Rocket League, GTA 5 and newer games even at 120hz while streaming in 60hz, preferably with a slight amount of headroom to keep my streams from stuttering..  The 3050 I have now I run only with single 32" 120hz monitor due to my monitor/gpu being cheap/ not having G-sync.   Even on single monitor though I don't hold a solid stream on games like Apex due to not having GPU headroom after reaching for 2k (upscaled from 1080p) at 120hz.

I have the option of a discounted 6700 from a friend.  Also could pay for what I need if I need to do that though.  Any advice/tips/answers are appreciated,  thank you!

The 6700 is amazing, especially the xt edition, although the 6800 xt will preform slightly* better

6800XT is about 60% faster than RX 6700 in 1440p, it is not slightly.

RX 6700 is a solid 1440p GPU, but you won't be able to play in ultra settings at 100fps and stream at 60 fps. Maybe in medium-high w/o FSR or high with FSR.

Certainly a decent upgrade from RTX 3050, about 68% faster in 1440p.

Occassionaly visits the forum when I have nothing to do at work.

Try to get a RX 7000 series or RTX 4000 series GPU because their encoder are superior by a good margin while not even getting started on AV1 encoding support

It's worth waiting a few weeks to get the new generation of midrange GPUs but dont get anything with less than 12GB of VRAM because that is the minimum that you will need so AMD is likely your only option or you can get a cheap intel A380 for encoding and a beefy GPU for gaming

FYI, 2k IS 1080p.

2560x1440p/1600p is not, and has never been 2k. If you want a short hand, QHD works, as in quad hd, as in 4x 720(which is HD) as in a 2x2 of 720

2k is technically 2048x1080, but that is a movie standard, so jsut assume 1920x1080, (4k is 2x2 2k, 8k is 2x2 4k)

Are you not using New Nvenc for streaming? im surprised to hear you are having issues with that specific suite of games at 1440p with a 3050.

A 6700 on a decent discount is a decent uplift. OBS now has decent AMD stream acceleration implementation.

I use Nvenc.   I believe my games really struggles trying to reach the games FPS cap (120hz) on some games (GTA 5).  Then it just streams my half quality stream with whatever resources are still available. Leading me to think I need a stronger GPU.  I'm a very new streamer so I'm not positive.

I just recieved a free Asus C202S Chromebook.    Would using the chromebook while streaming help at all or is the chromebook simply too weak?
