Memory help please

Hey guys,

I'm wanting some advice please.

I'm running a 9700k in a none overclockable board and had a 16gb set of Dominator DDR4 LPX C16 rated at 2666 which ran as advertised using XMP, I recently added another 16gb of Dominator DDR4 LPX C16 but rated at 3200 as it was all I could source.

The RAM runs absolutely fine at stock but if I try and activate XMP at 2666 it just refuses to post.

I've always been under the understanding that if you got 2 different speeds of RAM they just ran at slowest speed or is that not the case when using XMP.

It's not a major drama as how I see it 32GB at stock is still far superior to 16GB with a slight clock to 2666 but just wondered if I'm doing something wrong or if there's an easy fix I'm missing.

Thanks

Sadly it does not always work...

can you take a look which voltages are listed on the kits?

Where would I find the voltages?

I found this information on their website

2666:

Tested Latency 16-18-18-35

Tested Voltage 1.2V

Tested Speed 2666

SPD Latency 15-15-15-36

SPD Speed 2133MHz

SPD Voltage 1.2V

Speed Rating PC4-21300 (2666MHz)

3200:

Tested Latency 16-18-18-36

Tested Voltage 1.35V

Tested Speed 3200

SPD Latency 15-15-15-36

SPD Speed 2133MHz

SPD Voltage 1.2V

Speed Rating PC4-25600 (3200MHz)

there you have the problem... the 3200 MHz kit wants 1.35 V and in the profile for the 2666 Kit its just 1.2 V... try something like 1.25 V with 2666

you can go up to the 1.35 V as well... anything up to 1.4 V should be fine for DDR4 but i would just increase it untill you can run 2666 stable (Unless you want to OC)
