Hello Everyone im in need of your help

recently i changed my cpu from A6 7400K to A10 Pro 7800B with 8gb of ram installed however after i changed my cpu my motherboard (Biostar Hi-Fi A70U3P) is showing 4gb of ram but its reading both sticks but only the 2nd slot is being used, i checked for cpuz its showing 8gb ram running on single channel.. i tried swapping both ram sticks still the 2nd slot is being used.

i tried updating my bios still no luck

but as i put back my A6 7400K both ram are working fine.

what could be the problem

Are the cpu pins damaged?

Can you test the same cpu on another motherboard?

Are the cpu and mobo officially compatible?

These are the only things that pop in my mind

unfortunately i dont have another board compatible with my a10

according to the motherboard page it is compatible and i have checked all the pins are ok..if a pin is damaged, the cpu wont work right?

Depends on what pin is damaged, I have seen cases where the pins corresponding to a memory channel were damaged, so the computer worked fine, except it didn't detect that particular memory channel.

You won't know that.

Just to clarify, the problem is that when you put the 2 ram sticks with the A10, they run in single channel but they run in dual channel with the A6, right? All sticks get detected.

I'm confused because of the screenshot.

yes its confusing not seeing the problem since its very hard for me to explain this

here it is

A6 both sticks gets read as 8gb ram

A10 both sticks works but only the 2nd ram inserted on the 2nd slots is being used

mentioned above is on its bios

on windows

a6 reads both sticks showing 8gb (7.4 usable)

a10 reads both sticks showing 8gb (3.4 usable)

I would bet this to be a damaged cpu.

A10 is an old cpu, did you buy it used?
