Google Assistant not working on watch

I just recently received a Ticwatch S from my uncle who didn't need it anymore. Everything is working fine on it and setup went perfectly, except for google assistant. When I try to set it up and it prompts me to do it on my phone nothing happens, unlike the way I was able to set up my watch from my phone.
