Is there a performance difference for a gpu if you switch out the thermal pads for copper plates?

Performance, no. Temp difference, yeah, on 30 series cards it can help drop memory temps by about 20 degrees IIRC. It's a good idea if you're gonna be mining or doing something else that hammers the memory, but for just a gaming card it's not that big a deal.

You can buy the card you are looking at with cooper plates if it runs well and is tested.  As stated, it will run slightly faster and cooler than a normal card   ( replying to question from your previous thread about this )
