Hello,

I've just built this PC and for some reason when logging into windows whilst all my start up programs are loading my computer completely freezes up for a second but once its done loading, I can use it again, never really experience this, don't know if its that big of a deal.

When loading programs sometimes it will completely lock up also.

The big issue I'm seeing that I can replicate on the spot is,

For example I'm loading into a game on the loading screen and have a youtube video playing on the other monitor, the FPS of said video will drop to about 15 fps, basically just really low, but once the game loads the video returns to normal fps.

I'm not exactly sure what's going on and dont know what the culprit could be 😞

Any help is appreciated !

Thanks

Mark

First of all, try updating your drivers, is that doesn't work, try re-seating your RAM and GPU (the CPU can have wrong mounting pressure too if you want to check).
And in the last resort try re-installing the entire operating system to see if the system files were corrupted in the first place.

Expand for PC Specs.

What are the specs of your computer? Are you hitting 100% usage on anything? How are your pc temps?

If all of these are falling under expected and acceptable ranges I would nuke the OS and reinstall it.

Specs are

7950X3D

4090 STRIX

64GB DDR5 CORSAIR DOMINATOR RAM

CORSAIR 1600 WATT PSU

ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR X670E EXTREME MOBO

I had windows 11 installed and thought that was the issue, installed windows 10 but still the same deal.

Have just tried putting a 3090 in there to see if that worked, but same result.

Switched ram also same result.

Haven't got a spare CPU but surely that's not the issue.

Temps never really go over 60 for gpu and never really go over 55 for cpu.

Anything else to try? 😞

Nothing is hitting 100% usage either.

Thanks

Mark

Here are the things I would do in order:

1. Make sure all windows updates are completed.

2. Download Drivers using update utility. GeForce experience for gpu and I believe in your case Armory Crate for mobo.

3. Check for bios updates and install if you have any.

4. Reseat ram and gpu because yolo.

5. Download some program to check drive health.

6. Format drive and reinstall windows.

(Goes without saying but obviously don’t do step 6 if 1-5 fixed your issue haha)

I checked on CrystalDiskInfo said it was 100% good.

I installed latest bios before installing windows

and yes I've updated to latest drivers from yesterday 😄

Sorry I didn't understand, my bad.

I installed the WD Tool and the firmware was in fact out of date, installed the new firmware and restarted the PC, however the issue still remains 😞

I tried loading up CS:GO and when loading into an offline map with bots it would get to just before you load into the map and my entire PC would freeze and need a restart to function again.

I cleared the CMOS battery after this, and that seemed to have fixed my crashing in CS:GO at least for now, but still getting horrible lag when watching videos and loading into any game, and still getting horrible laggy mouse/delayed mouse movements when opening applications or just loading into windows.

Super confused, just built the PC and I don't know what to do 😞

Could there be a BIOS setting I'm missing?

I just tested it for a second there, it crashed.

Motherboard was going between 34,35,36 on the debug menu thingy.

I could hear sound but screen completely froze, couldnt alt tab or anything.

Sound eventually stopped and all my monitors went really discoloured, black and stuff then PC rebooted.

I tested another method last night, got a spare GPU that was small enough to fit on the bottom GPU slot as my 4090 is too big to fit in that slot with all the cables below it, everything was fine with that GPU.

I put the GPU back on the top slot and problem reappeared, I'm guessing the GPU slot is broke? hence the crashes etc?
