Asus Xonar DX not working properly

Hello everyone,

My Asus Xonar DX is randomly not working if i boot my computer.

sometimes it makes only static noise and sometimes there is no sound at all but in most cases it is just working fine.

The problems occur in 1/10 of all the times that i boot the computer.

Things i have tried to fix:

Checked for driver issues using driverscanner 2013

Turned onboard audio off in the bios

reinstalled Asus drivers

Checked if the floppy power connector is properly attached to the sound card

Checked for viruses

Further system specs and software:

Software:

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

Asus Xonar DX Audio Driver 7.12.8.1794

Hardware:

Intel i7 3770K

Asus Z77 Sabertooth

XFX HD7870 in Crossfire

8GB 1866mhz Kingston

Asus Xonar DX 7.1 Soundcard

850 Watt PSU

Hope someone can help!

Just to eliminate it as an option have you tried with a different set of speakers?

Another step would be to shut down completely pull the card out and reseat it in the PCI slot. (not likely going to make a difference but for a few minutes of work it's worth a try)

Have you tried to put it into different pcie slots or a different computer? And try to test it with high quality audio tracks with more than one headphone/speaker.

Hei Godfather....

I`ve got the same PC specs as you and experiencing some stange issues with my Asus Xonar DX card.

When loading Windows the sound gets really high and a F"#¤" up windows startup tone appears. I have to reboot to get the sound back to normal. Ive had this issues with Asus drivers, w/Firmware fix + UniXonar drivers.

Maybe the MOBO ASUS Z77 doens not like this ASUS sound card :(. Been looking at different sites and a lot of people that are experiencing this are Z77 MOBO users.

Cool that the uniXonar is working your way :) Going back to Onboard sound, afraid the loud sound will blow up my headset....
