Should I go with the 7900x or the 5950x paired with the Rx 6950 xt? Thanks!

If you have the option then go for the 7900x, its a lot faster.

The 7900x is on an entirely different architecture. The 7900x is a lot faster than the 5950x, you can't compare them at all. Even with lower core count it destroys the 5950x. I myself have a 7700x with an RTX 4080 and its fantastic. Here is a video that shows the 5950x vs 7900x in gaming. Its in 1080p to show the power of the CPU. If you have more questions please ask.
