Help with CPUs

Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

Here is what you need for the best performance per dollar for gaming/streaming/recording/editing/rendering...the FX-8320 is just as good as the FX-8350

only lower clock speed but it's the same chip and it's unlock so a simple change of the multiplier wich takes 12 seconds really will make it just as good and

even better than the 8350 and you save $$...this motheboard is the best 970 board it has an 8+2 digital power phase with high quality heatsinked VRM's

this motherboard will allow for the craziest overclocks on this chip...and this CPU cooler is the best bang for the bucks it will allow to clock the CPU as far

as 4.6ghz 24/7 no problem, this is the exact kit i'm using for gaming and rendering and i couldn't be any happier...it games extremely well too when paired

with an high-end GPU like a GTX 770 or GTX 780 for example. The CPU cooler is 158mm tall though so make sure it fit in your case, and if you plan on

using two GPU'S (sli/cfx) you have to pick the 990FX version of this motherboard because it has only one 16x PCIe slot, the 2nd slot is running at 4x speed.

Oh really?! than your dumb...you would spend like 200$ more on a CPU and 75$ more for the motherboard to go along for 10% more performance?! youre CRAZY!! Here's rendering cinebench i did this morning again

you can see i beat core i7-3770 by a good margin and i come close (10%) to the i7-4770K...there's really no need to pay a premium for an intel CPU...i paid 120$ for this CPU and 80$ for the motherboard...can you beat that for

the price? ...that's what i'm talking about!

i see what your saying and agree but personally i do like intel better. call me a fanboy whatever  intel typically has more quality

Faa, im not cpu bound in any games i tell you, multiplayer included i play a lot of bf4 online 64 players and the gpu is ALWAYS the weakest link...and no my cpu isnt throttling at any time, im not a noob or dumb trust me, and this gigabyte board is really an 8+2  board...and no my computer never shut down or anything all my temps are fine including vrms and cpu core and socket, trust me.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just recently saw the new posts on my topic even though I've already solved it... I don't mind spending 10 extra bucks for a water cooling unit instead of the EVO 212 but one thing you all who referenced Intel, I do agree that you pay for what you get... but I simply don't have the money to spend around $300 bucks for a i7. Which was on the original post... Guess people missed it.

I was considering the i5 but sadly I'm willing to cut a little bit of a performance for cash.

As far as overclocking. I do plan to overclock at least to 4.5ghz.

Also another thing... people seemed to have disclosed all my other needs and simply jumped on "you need this for streaming." It is possible that Streaming might be the most taxing out of all my needs but I don't plan to be streaming for more than at MAX 3-4 hours. Maybe even less. I don't know currently. It would have been nice to see some "for map editing, you need this" or "for video rendering, you need this."

But I've made my choice already... would love to have all this expensive Intel stuff but the problem doesn't change that I'm stretched for money, but the 8320 is the best all around CPU for what I need. And if I need extra frames or performance, that's why I'm getting a high end GPU. No it's not the best but again. Money.

So thanks everyone for the help, but the choice has been made.
