Hi all, i have recently moved into a new apartment and need helping setting up my internet. I want to use ethernet if possible and need help figuring out a good way to doing it.

The router is setup in the lounge room and I would like 2 bedrooms to have ethernet access. I thought at first getting internet routed from the lounge to the bedrooms through the walls however the unit is solid concrete which makes it hard and very expensive to do. The other solution was to use a power ethernet adapter and run internet through the power lines however i have heard that wont give great speeds and its worse if more than 1 user is using it.

The only other option i know is to have a very long ethernet cable and run it all the way from the lounge to each other the bedrooms. If there is a better solution i would love to hear it because running it from the lounge to the bedrooms looks ugly and is a tripping hazard.

I currently do not have wifi in my PC and just prefer a wired connection as it is better and also with concrete walls, the wifi wont have good connection.

Hey, this might not be the prettiest setup, but it works fairly well, especially if you're not into competitive gaming.

It has LAN output for PC and extends/meshes wifi network really good.

Assuming you're renting and can't make permanent changes, you have a few options:

WiFi range extenders can work, but they add latency and cut your potential bandwidth. You're also right that wireless networking and concrete walls don't mix. Personally, I'd avoid these.

If you have coaxial cable run to each room for cable TV, you can use MoCA adapters.

Powerline is also potentially a viable wired option.

If you don't mind getting a little creative, you can always run regular Ethernet cable around the door casings and baseboards. Surface-mount panduit can help you here as well. Ethernet runs can be up to 300 feet between active devices, so you don't have to make a beeline right from your PC through the middle of the room.

Sorry i should have mentioned I am not renting, i do own the unit. The original idea was to run ethernet through the walls and into the bedrooms but because its concrete I would have to use existing conduit which means i wouldnt be able to do it.

I do not have coaxial cables either.

The only option i can think of is what i think you are referring to is to run a cable all the way from the router on the outside of the walls, around corners and doors into the room. I would prefer not to but if i have to i have to. But i am the owner of the unit so if there is a solution that isnt expensive im happy to hear it.

You would still have surface-run cables (or conduit) for the verticals, but you could use crown molding to hide most of your runs. (Or do the same with baseboards; dado out some paths for your cables to run through.) If the building is concrete block, you can get between adjacent rooms by drilling holes with a masonry bit in a hammer drill.

So my unit already has crown molding so it would look stupid if i only had the one shown in the video on the sides the cables are running. Otherwise do you know if regular molding is usually solid or would it have a small area in the corner to put cable?

In regards to powerline adapters, do you know if using multiple on the same network will work? Cause it will be 2 different rooms with 2 powerline adapters.
