Hello!

I'm thinking of upgrading my laptop's storage but don't really know what the process would be like to transfer all my files over, does anyone have any advice or know any tutorials I could use to get myself started?

Thanks!

First you need to figure out if your laptop have only one or multiple M.2 or internal SATA bays. Otherwise you will need at minimum a external SSD/SATA enclosure

If you buy a brand-new SSD,

Seagate, WD, Samsung, ADATA etc all proves system cloning software for free.

However, you need to plug the drive in the system to clone it. Some software like WD's will need to detect the drive is indeed a WD drive. Others like Samsung's can only clone TO a Samsung drive, not from.

There are also free software can do this, most have step-to-step guide and relatively easy.

Once you had cloned your old drive, you can then format the original drive (delete system partition) to use it as data drive. Not that Windows may not allow you to delete partitions using built in Disk Management software.
